Adults and special needs

Lessons are typically offered 4 days per week for 4 to 6 weeks. Lessons are 10 to 12 minutes each in strictly a private one-on-one setting. Why only 10 minutes per day? When you are working with infants and young toddlers, it is better to keep lesson length relatively short so that you:

1 ) Work within the physical limits of infants and young children; the physiology of their cardiovascular system and other critical internal organs are not yet developed, therefore they have very limited stamina. Even more so, they do not display the signs of fatigue (like sweating and heavy breathing) that adults show.

2) Work within the confines of short attention spans. Not only have many at this age not developed the cognitive capacity to focus at times of stress, but the nervous system is not developed to handle long periods of movement in a new environment.

3) Practice in an environment of 100% correct skills. Once a skill is developed, it is not repeated so many times that fatigue-induced mistakes start to side-track skill development and introduce incorrect form. This method has a much higher success rate in imprinting correct skills in the water.

“BEST. LESSONS. EVER. We had been looking for quality swim lessons in Northwest Indiana and wow did we find it with Ann! We know our 2.5 year old daughter can be a challenge, but with Ann the learning process was obvious and the results were simply amazing. If you are looking for water safety, look no further. “

Stephanie (Chesterton, IN)

“Ann is truly exceptional at what she does. As an infant survival swimming instructor, she combines expertise with genuine care, and it shows in every lesson. She is incredibly well-spoken and does a fantastic job communicating with parents—clearly explaining the process, progress, and what to expect in a way that is both reassuring and informative.

What really sets Ann apart is how amazing she is with kids. She’s calm, patient, and creates an environment where little ones feel safe and supported. Her ability to connect with children and build their confidence in the water is nothing short of incredible.

We are so thankful to have found Ann and couldn’t recommend her more highly to any parent looking for a skilled, trustworthy, and caring instructor.”

Brittany L. (Kouts, IN)

"We're forever grateful to Ann’s expertise for helping guide our baby girl in the infant survival float lessons. It was a significant decision for us to make regarding the training of our firstborn, and we were met with compassion and professionalism.

Ann had the knowledge and support that two new parents need to gently welcome this type of water survival training for our first child. She answered all our questions and thoroughly explained the process to us.

Our daughter loved the water before, and now has added infant survival training to her repertoire while still being able to enjoy herself in the pool. Thank you to Ann for helping foster this safety skill for our baby!"
